He was Shaft Engineer at AAC - Freddies 10# from April 1995 to May 1998. He then joined AngloGold Matjhabeng Mine as Planning & Services Engineer until October 1998. Gold Plant Engineer in November 1998, Acting Engineering Manager on two occasions in 2000 and Vertical Transport Engineer until July 2001 at AngloGold Joel Mine. Johan worked as Shaft & Groundhandling Engineer at De Beers Finsch Mine from August 2001 - July 2002. Lonmin - Western Platinum Mine as Ore Delivery Manager , Rowland Shaft in 2002, followed by a promotion to Engineering Manager and finally as a Senior Manager Engineering until June 2008. He is currently Group Manager Engineering at Xstrata Alloys - Platinum Division. Johan is registered as a Professional Certificated Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) He obtained his Government Certificate of Competency in 1987 and is currently President of the AMRE Association. |

In 1997 he was promoted to Engineering Manager and relocated to the Free State operations in Welkom. In 1998 he returned to Vaal River as Engineering Manager Metallurgy, a position he held up to July 2003. In July 2003 Brian was transferred on promotion to Consulting Mechanical & Electrical Engineer at Anglo Platinum based in Johannesburg, a position he still holds today. He is a registered Professional Engineer and Registered Certificated Engineer with ECSA. He also serves on the Council for the Association of Mine Resident Engineers and the registration committee of certificated Engineers with ECSA. |
